About Us

You don't get handed off. You get a team that knows Whatcom County inside and out.

Our Mission

Bellingham ADU Builders exists to make ADU construction simple, transparent, and accessible for Whatcom County homeowners. We believe every homeowner should be able to understand what's possible on their property — without wading through municipal code, scheduling pre-application meetings, or guessing at costs.

Washington's HB 1337 and Bellingham's December 2025 ordinance update created the most favorable ADU environment in the state's history. We built our process to help homeowners take full advantage of these changes — from a free GIS-powered feasibility study through dedicated permitting to turn-key construction.

Sustainable Construction, Built In

Every ADU we build in Bellingham incorporates energy-efficient design — high-performance building envelopes, heat pump systems, and responsible materials sourced from Pacific Northwest suppliers. We don't treat sustainability as an upgrade. It's our standard.

Our sustainable building practices reduce operating costs by 50–60% compared to conventional construction, and our builds are designed to qualify for the 30% federal energy-efficient home tax credit — potentially saving homeowners $60,000–$135,000 on their ADU project.

Why Local Matters

We Know the Code

Bellingham's ADU ordinance (BMC 20.10.036) and Whatcom County's regulations (WCC 20.80.910) have nuances that out-of-area builders miss. We work with these codes daily.

We Know the People

Loren has working relationships with planning department staff in Bellingham, Whatcom County, and Ferndale. This means faster responses and fewer surprises during review.

We Know the Land

From Birchwood's deep lots to Silver Beach's watershed restrictions, from Sunnyland's tight setbacks to Cordata's transit corridors — we understand the neighborhood-level details that determine feasibility.

We Know the Market

ADU rental rates, property value impacts, and ROI calculations specific to Bellingham and Whatcom County. We give you real local data, not national averages.
